Teaching Programs in Asia


1. Princeton in Asia Program 

This program provides several opportunities to teach abroad in regions of Asia such as Beijing, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. The general preference is given to applicants who have prior teaching experience and are comfortable with learning or are familiar the language of that region. For this program, most positions begin in August

2. Japan (JET Program)

Description
The JET Program employs Assistant Language Teachers, also known as "ALTs", assist with Japanese teachers in preparing teaching materials and extracurricular activities. 

Duties
  • Team-teaching, or assisting with classes taught by JTEs/JTLs
  • Assisting in the preparation of teaching materials
  • Participating in extra-curricular activities with students
Eligibility:
  • Not have lived in Japan for six or more years in total in the past ten years. 
  • Participants employed as ALTs are placed in schools or local boards of education. ALTs assist Japanese teachers with foreign language lessons, and are thus involved in the preparation of

3. Korea (EPIK)

Description: 
The English Program in Korea
 (EPIK) gives college graduates the opportunity to get a great start in a teaching career while experiencing Korean culture. 

Requirements: 
  • Be a citizen of a country where English is the primary language
  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

Benefits:
  • Settlement Allowance 
  • Severance pay

4. Thailand (TTC)

Description:
The American-Thai foundation established Teach Thailand Corps (TTC) for college graduates to be able to teach in Thailand. 

Benefits:
  • Monthly stipend
  • Work permit and visa in Thailand
  • Mid-year and year-end retreats

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in any field 
  • Teaching experience and ESL / TEFL or equivalent helpful but not required

  • Your university transcript
  • A cover letter explaining your interest in the program and how your experience, skills, and aspirations/interests would qualify you and provide a good fit for the position
  • Two letters of recommendation

The fall-cycle (early application) deadline is December 31, 2019.
