Scholarships and Financial AidFederal Financial Aid (Pell Grants and Federal Loans) can be used for study abroad. Students must include the cost of the program and related expenses during the financial aid application process. It is the responsibility of the student to apply for aid prior to enrolling in a study abroad program to insure that funds are received prior to the start of classes abroad. Arrangements must be made with the Financial Aid Office to have funds applied to the student’s university account. In order to help you calculate your study abroad costs we have created a sample_budget_worksheet.xls. In addition to the program cost, the student's account will be charged $250 Study Abroad Application Fee (only if the student commits to the program) and the airfare. The student may be required to pay for the transcript, depending on the program provider's policy ($0-$500).
A number of scholarships are available for study abroad. OIED staff will assists FAMU students with the scholarship application process and creating a competitive essay.
